Global warming is a real thing, yes. We have lots of evidence to show that our planet is warmer than it was in the past. The thing that is being debated is whether global warming is natural or whether it is being made worse by human activity. The temperature of the planet has changed a lot over its history, just think about the ice age which was completely natural! However, we have an overwhelming amount of evidence to suggest that global warming is happening at a much faster rate than before because of humans. This is what is scary! Some people get confused when we use the phrase “global warming” because, although the average temperature of the planet is increasing, this also causes more extreme weather events, like snow storms! This is why “climate change” is probably a better term because it represents all the changes that are going on in our climate, rather than it just being hotter all the time.

The main thing to take away is the global warming is a very real thing that we are very certain is being made worse by human activity. Sadly, lots of powerful people in powerful positions are using the confusion surrounding it to pretend that it is not a problem – it definitely is but we can do something about it if we all work together!
