Yes, very much. Not only is the work challenging and interesting, but I also get to meet a lot of cool people, and do a lot of travelling. My job has taken me from Canada to UK to Switzerland 😀 It also is really awesome to be doing something that hasn’t been done before. That’s the definition of research – you’re the first person to be doing that particular thing.

Yes, otherwise I wouldn’t be doing it! I like my job because I get paid to learn all day every day, which I think is pretty cool. At the same time as learning, I get to add small contributions to our knowledge of how the Universe works and become an expert on what I am studying. When you do science research like a PhD and beyond, you become the top expert on that specific area of science which is awesome!

Absolutely! I get to teach young people stuff I enjoy teaching; I get to talk to the public about stuff I enjoy talking about; I get to do research on topics I find interesting, and I get to travel the globe to meet all sorts of people (though traveling for forty hours, from Tallahassee, Florida, to some remote part of India is not exactly fun).

      I do.
Keep in mind that a job takes many hours in an adult’s day. The more you like, the more it has a positive effect on the rest of your life. Try hard to steer your path towards where you want to get one day.
